Executive Summary of the Lake Abitibi Model Forest State of the Forest Report

The State of the Forest Report, also called Local Level Indicators Summary: 2000 is a concise description and guide to the current status of the Lake Abitibi Model Forest as measured through the use of local level indicators of sustainable forest management. It was produced to be reader-friendly, and to give a succinct overview and summary of the more technical document entitled Lake Abitibi Model Forest Local Level Indicators Status Report: 2000.

The publication helps to demonstrate how forest management has been successful in sustaining forest resources. It also demonstrates potential areas for improvement. The document effectively promotes the identity and function of the LAMF to a number of audiences.

Tangible products such as the Executive Summary serve as important public relations and marketing tools for the LAMF itself, demonstrating that investment by the Model Forest Network, and the involvement and contribution of its partners is justified, worthwhile, and should be continued. The LAMF is clearly seen as providing practical and applicable tools and information for use in sustainable forest management through the Summary. Partners in this project included Lake Abitibi Model Forest members, Abitibi-Consolidated Company of Canada, and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
