Mark Long

Mark has a great deal of academic training and leadership experience in many
areas of adventure recreation. He has studied adventure leadership,
adventure therapy, and experiential education at Lakehead University and the
University of New Brunswick. He has nearly twenty years experience teaching
wilderness leadership, white-water canoeing, kayaking, rafting, water &
vertical rescue, wilderness medicine, and sea kayak rescue & navigation
throughout Central and Eastern Canada. His teaching experience includes
working for Lakehead University, University of New Brunswick, the School of
Wilderness Arts & Technology, and for the New Brunswick Provincial
Government. He is a leading moving-water rescue instructor with Rescue 3
International, the largest rescue instructional organization in the world.
Mark is a moving-water instructor trainer for the Ontario Recreational
Canoeing Association, and has logged thousands of miles of canoeing,
kayaking, and rafting experience throughout much of Canada and the United
States. Mark currently operates Momentum Outdoors, an outdoor adventure
company, and teaches an outdoor adventure leadership program at Iroquois
Falls Secondary School. A passion for adventure and wilderness provides his
motivation for working with others who have interests in the long-term
health of our wilderness areas.
