Kirk Springer

Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources

Kirk is excited about being a new Board member representing the Cochrane District. He wants to strengthen the already good relationship between the LAMF and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, Cochrane District.

He is impressed by the variety of backgrounds of the members of the Board and how well they work together. Kirk also is also impressed by the diversity of the Model Forest program, the strong partnerships that have been established, and the community outreach which includes schools.

Kirk graduated as a Forest technician in 1979 from Algonquin College in Pembroke. Born and raised in Toronto, he has been living in Cochrane since 1989 where I was originally employed with Normick Perron as a chief Scaler. After the mill was purchased by Tembec in 1996, he became fibre manager until 2000 when I accepted employment with the MNR in the provincial measurement unit. He has been with the Cochrane District since 2005 as the Iroquois Falls Area Supervisor

He and his wife Julie have raised their two children in Cochrane which has provided them with a safe clean environment and lots of great outdoor experiences,. Their son now resides in Toronto and their daughter in Vancouver.
